Who wants to participate in a fun experiment?

Here's the pics.

They are in rows per hen that laid them. The top 2 rows I consider round and bottom are pointed. I am not sure how much detail that show. I have a couple more close ups but I don't think the detail improved.

They are separated in the incubator and ready to hatch Sunday.

After looking at the pics the green eggs could go either way with pointiness.

Thanks so much, Chickapooh! Great idea on numbering them.

I've just calculated their width ratios, and here's what I got:
Width/length ratio:
Egg 1: 74%
Egg 2: 70%
Egg 3: 72%
Egg 4: 74%
Egg 5: 74%
Egg 6: 78%
Egg 7: 80%
Egg 8: 80%
Egg 9: 77%
Egg 10: 77%
Egg 11: 71%
Egg 12: 76%
Forgive the extreme nerdiness here...
Based on the lowest being 70% and the highest being 80%, with a mean of 75%, everything above 75% would be "round". So, if we separated them accordingly, My hypothesis would be:
Hens: 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12
Roos: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11.

Shall we try it?

Now that I think about it, if the parameters vary per bird, we'd be looking at the following:
Hen 1: Mean-72% Potential hens: 1, 4, 5; Roos: 2, 3
Hen 2: Mean-79% Potential hens: 7, 8; Roos: 6
Hen 3: Mean-74% Potential hens: 9, 10, 12; Roos: 11

I can't think of any way to test both hypotheses at once, unless you can actually number the chicks as they come out...

PS: How will you know which chicks come from which eggs?

Thanks so much for playing with me!

I love this this will be so cool if enough people do it. So what if its an old wives tell , then we can prove it false but sometimes experments are fun just to do not beacuase of out come. I wish I had a bator and eggs right now I would join in. Keep us posted
And you could always put colored bands on the pointed egg chicks or mark the heads of roaunded egg chicks or whatever .
