My blue cochin hen has been broody for quite a while. She sat on 7-8 eggs two weeks ago but crushed them all before they hatched. Now she is back on the nest with more eggs. I noticed tonight that there is another crushed egg pushed out beside her. How can I prevent this. Got any suggestions. I have put hay and wood chips in her nest but she flings them out. The eggs are on the bare floor of the nest box. I don't know what else to try. Shelf liner didnt work either Help.
 
Make sure she is separated from the flock and put into a spacey nest with a nice thick layer of bedding.

I had a broddy doing the exact same thing while her e g g s were in the nest box. I moved her to a dog crate and no more e g g s were broken.

Then next time she went broody I put her in the crate right away, and no broken e g g s.
 
I tried to put her in another pen by herself. She went ballistic and left the nest. I lost 9 ameracauna eggs because of that. I put her back into the pen with the other hens and she immediatly started collecting eggs again. Now she is on 7-8 more. I don't think she is cracking them as they are flat crushed flat. Next time I will try the pillow who knows it might work. Thanks for any advise. Micki
 
It is recomended that you do it at night. I apologize for not telling you that before.

At night, have a nest prepared and take it with you inside the coop. It should be dark out. Then, gently lift her from the nest, if posible, pick her up in a way that her feet don't dangle in the air. Just make sure she is not turned sideways. Then gently nestle her inside the new nesting box. Grab her eggs and try to put them under her, if you prefer not to, thats fine, you can just put them next to her. Take the nest box to the designated area you chose to put her. Remember, broody hens turn their eggs every 15 minutes around the clock, so when she sences them near her, she will tuck them under her.
I always choose a medium sized box to put my broodies in. Something like this should work:
