Today was the day... My chickens have arrive.

Two Delawares and one White Plymouth Rock. All about 18 weeks old and the Delaware are already laying. Things went quite well. Even the dog was fairly well behaved. He jumped at them a couple of times but it looked like a play jump, only to see them move. He seemed pretty calm around them. (Will be a long test for him)

The Delawares seem to be picking on the White Rock a little bit. They stick tight together and seem to treat the White Rock like an outcast. Not sure what that's all about but they came from different pens so I'm assuming the Delawares were familiar with each other and are establishing the pecking order with the Rock.

The are enjoying a dust bath at the moment. White birds, lots of dust. Wow!

I just went out to see how they were doing and found one of the Delawares laying an egg in the gravel under the pen. When she got up there was another egg sitting there too. They were still very warm and they had very soft shells. One of them broke when I picked it up. I hope that's not where they're going to lay all their eggs.

Here's the one I call Princess. I think she's going to run the roost.
