chicks dying one by one

I just got 100 chicks from Ideal 3 weeks ago. I had a few losses (trampling) among the smaller birds, but I got everyone sorted out ok. I was quite happy considering that they had travelled from TX to PA in 20 degree weather. So this new bunch is baffling me. The only thing I can think of is that maybe at some point in transit one end of the box was warmer than the other, so those chicks didn't get as stressed out. But why, if you're a stressed chick, would you act normal for 2 days and then curl up and die? Poor little things--I wish they could talk and tell me.

That was not what I wanted to hear! ... but like I said ... the grogel worked great to bring the ones that survived the trip back to life! AND ... I use that stuff if I have a sick hen too! ... I sometimes give it to new chicks every morning with their warm breakfast ... spoiled I know! I won't be with out in it my house!

So sorry about all your chicks ! Hope they've stopped dying off !!!
I have some little guys from Ideal...will be 2 wks this Tuesday...shipped on Wed, and rec'd on Thursday. Had 33 Banties, 4 Jersey Giants, 5 Cuckoo Marans, and 5 BEI duckies.
ALL arrived in excellent condition. All survived. In part I do thank my post office for that 5 AM call. That's where things go wrong...not the hatchery.
This is my second dealing with Ideal and I have only good things to say about them. As a matter of fact they had overcharged me for the Banties...I called them the following Monday after noticing it...they credited my $$$ back to my debit card with no problems. And very, very pleasant about it.

Not down anymore ... thankful my 8 new ones are doing so well ... so cute to have 3, 2, and now 1 week old chicks in the brooder ... they are so cute ... the biggest one is taking care of the little ones ... the middle ones have middle child issues ...lol

I hope she can stop whats happening to her babies ...
 
HEY! I'm Sumatra and I never wrote that about being rude! How did it happen? I have been away from the desk, but I am sure no one here wrote anything on my behalf! Believe me I am the last person that would take offence. . . Is there any way someone could post as Sumatra? What do I do?
 
Whoa Weird! Well I'm at least glad we did not have a misunderstanding ! Yeah!

Weird thing is that after I went back, I couldn't find the original message...I just thought it had been deleted.

Sumatra, sent you a PM saying I was sorry. It was a good lesson anyway (for me).
