My silkies are PETS! Really good, sweet, affectionate pets. Besides, I have a firm rule.....I don't eat anything I've named! HA!

The tiny little cream colored eggs are a bonus! It's Easter to me every day that I find one of these little gems.
 
someone should make a poll on this...i can't, i don't have the spending money for a golden feather membership (i could go into that, but that would take up a whole lot of space lol) so someone else will have to

Odd question. Chickens are chickens. Gallus gallus domesticus. I think the question is more appropriately phrased "How do you regard your chickens?" How that question is answered has a wide range of implications about care, ethics, ownership, what have you. It doesn't change the fact that chickens are what they are. Personally, I think labels get in the way of objectivity.

Designated as livestock assures that the USDA will continue to research health issues that ensure the safety of the food we consume. "Pets" are not so strictly enforced and are dependent for the most part on donations to fund research.
