PLEASE SUPPORT US W/ YOUR PRESENCE this Tuesday, April 20th, 2010 at 3:00PM in the "Commission Chamber" of City Hall. just please go and get others there.

A very charismatic and capable person I've met was ticketed and ticketed again for all kinds of ridiculous things. He is demanding on TV that the city commission rescinds the ordinance Sec 8.2.5 (f) that makes it unlawful to own a chicken in city limits in under 1/4 acre.

Channel 7 will cover this Sunday at 5:30PM & 10PM

Channel 10 will cover it Monday at 5:30PM & 10PM

& Telemundo will cover it Monday at 5:30PM & 10PM
**********************in some of the interviews, he is holding the eggs from the chickens we sold him!!!!*******************************

there is a story behind why the city commission passed this in January of 2007. if someone can find the meeting minutes where someone explained that the law was not intended to be enforced unless the chickens were a nuisance, PLEASE post the link here and PM me with it. yeah, think what this leads to ---- the entire public and city police and everyone only knowing it is illegal to have a chicken

if you see this, please limit comments if you are not in amarillo. this is a call to action. if you know BYC'ers in the area, please PM them with a link to this thread. If you are in Amarillo, Please POST!

THX!
ps. hopefully, the person who is doing one heck of a job so quickly at this, will join BYC!

Very important to read: http://www.amarillo.com/stories/011707/new_6574968.shtml

""Most
people who complain want to keep their birds in the backyard and that's exactly what we're trying to eliminate," Animal Control Director Mike McGee said. "We're not going to pass this ordinance and start writing tickets. It'll be based on complaints.""

if the code reads it is illegal, a complaint will be made just b/c they are illegal.

on a side note: i'm trying to imagine the HELL Mike McGee lives in. all those thousands of cats and dogs. surely he must walk into work and occasionally and "make eyes" with one. it would make anyone "Mad." as in, insane "mad."

Last year, the city website said that 12 hens were legal with no restrictions. I'll drop you PM when I get some time this afternoon, Rosco.

Amarillo-ians - Meeting tomorrow night, 7PM at Hastings (Georgia St).

Also, Amarillo Bantam Club Show Saturday Morning at the Tri-State Fairgrounds

it would be cool if this website has a way to group people off in area. so we don't need our own website and club. just like a amarillo chapter of BYC. it'd be much easier. i'll PM nifty chicken and see if this is in place .

but we'd have to like have some sort of payment for web hosting. it'd only be fair

If you need a place to congregate online for getting the ordinance changed I could setup a forum for you(like this or any other phpbb forum), on my website.

only downside is it would be something like

colorado4wheel.com/chickenforum

may not be the best addy for getting people onto your cause in texas.

PM me if you want to go that route.
