My Mandarin Duck Pen - Completed - Photo Intensive

Thanks. Are you asking for the dimensions of my chicken coop or this duck pen? The duck pen is 4ft by 8ft. My chicken coop is 8ft by 8ft. As for duck breeds I'd recommend, it really depends on what you want to raise them for? If for eggs, I'm not real familiar with the standard size domestic ducks. Call ducks aren't the best egg layers around. I think Khaki Campells are supposed to be good egg layers. Perhaps someone will chime in who knows more about the standard size domestic ducks than I.

Thanks alot! I was tlaking about your duck pen. What does the inside look like? I am very curious to ducks and wanting to get into them! I really just want to be able to get some eggs that are fertile, and I love ornamental breeds! They just need to be heat hardy and look good for the most part!

Great, (safe) looking home! The sweet potato vine is a good idea - I think I'll try that one. I've seen so many viney plants that are poisonous, at least to chickens. The ducks look content.

Scott, that is great!

Thanks, Sundown. Hey, do you have good success incubating your mandarin eggs? Do you incubate them just like your calls? What kind of setup do you have for your mandarins?

Looks great!!!

You should see the 16x16 aviary my friend's husband built for her Mandarians over a spring water hole in her hillside. Huge for just a pair, but they like it.
