I just love your little story ADozenGirlz.

Look at the lengths we will go to I have 2 blue splash marans developing. They came from gabbard farms. The eggs are not very dark but I hope I will get a true idea about their temperament. I am trying to decide on the breeds I want to work on. Thanks again this cheered me up.

Mine are also from Gabbard Farms via MPC. The darkest eggs they sent were yolkers or quitters.

Hatching update...after having pipped more than 26 hours ago and failing to zip around the egg, I decided it was time for a little help. All the important stuff was absorbed and "Windy" hatched at 7:15pm! (Windy b/c there was an 8 hour power failure last night due to high winds and there were some desperate measures that had to be taken to keep her warm).

:hugsCongrats on your new arrival.
I was hoping you would get at least two BSM's out of the seven.
I unfortunately only got ONE out of THIRTYSIX. They were also from Gabbard Farms.
I will never order from them again.
Now I have one lonely BSM being raised with silkies !! Poor Baby.

Love all your pictures, please keep us posted. We are related in a way, or at least our chicks are !!!

Thanks! I'm still holding out hope for egg #5 which pipped today and appears to be making progress.

Alrighty, the hatch is complete! The second egg pipped last night and hatched sometime before 4:45am (when I checked on her last).

I'm pleased to introduce: Windy (name inspired by wind storm that caused day 20's power failure & my near heart failure!) and Madonna (so named b/c she was my "superstar" egg from the first candling and is featured in the earliest photos in this thread as "Egg #5).

Windy. I'm not sure why her left foot looks like that, I'm hoping that it's just an odd egg position thing that'll go away. (?)

Thanks, J. I'm looking forward to a run-of-the-mill hatch next time as this is the SECOND of the whopping three hatches I've had where we have had a power loss! Hmmm.
