Dark Egg Breeds Thread

Morning Everyone!

Hope all are doing great!

Great picture Dave!

My Barnevelder pullet started laying 5 days ago, she has given me 3 eggs. They are like that of a Welsummer pullets first egg and rather pale. It also doesn't help that she had laid all 3 of them in the coop run and when I pick them up I have to wipe them off and it takes the color with it. Yesterday's egg had tiny fine speckles on it that were a shade or 2 darker than the rest of the egg. Will try to get some good photos of them to upload.

Another Greenfire Farms pullet laid her first egg yesterday, lots of nice dark tiny speckles all over it and a couple of my older dark Blue Copper gals have started laying again.

The Welsummers are laying up a storm, I have been collecting eggs for cherylcohen and out of 5 pullets of which 4 are laying they gave me 16 eggs. I am sending 15 to cheryl, the 16th was too light and looked like someone was having a bad egg day.
This is the Wellie egg that isn't going to Cheryl.

These are the eggs that are all packed up and ready to go to Cheryl. Many happy hatching vibes coming your way.

The Barnie's first 3 eggs. They should get darker to almost that of a Welsummer egg, we will see.

Cheryl~
Thank you for giving them a try. Looking at that photo it makes the darker eggs look a shade darker than they really are, IMO, they are a little brighter than this in person and flat or smooth. Hmmm....will be interesting to see them from anothers camera and view. Would you share a photo of them before you shut the 'bator up? That would be awesome.

Hope they have a safe trip. I will be taking them in later this morning. Let me know how they arrive will you?

They are Beautiful Cheryl! That's alot of eggs! But who am I talking....I've got 20 Welsummers and 22 Marans eggs in right now. Putting a few more Marans eggs today.

New little pullet egg (BCM), sitting beside a dark Olive Egg that hatched. I wanted a picture of the Olive Egger chick with the egg it hatched from, but it doesn't look Olive at all. The first picture shows it a little better. The chick is sired by an Ameraucana.

Yeah it is alot, but they wanted to send many extras because of the time of year regarding fertility. This is hopefully going to be the hatch that gets me my wheaten flock for breeding, so I'm looking for a high hatch rate
