dsqard... since no one seems to have hens that lay in strange places that they wish to share with the hatch group, want to open it up to roosters as well

Checking in from Small Town, Maine - moved here from Maryland then got DIVORCED. Oh the shame!

I will never fit in.

And I like it that way.

Oh and if I ever decide to plunge and have kids, yeah... they won't fit in, either. Way I had it 'splained to me, Lucy, is "a cat can have kittens in the oven but it don't make them muffins"...

Touche.

Nice!!! Remind me not to move to Maine. As if I would, because of all the snow...but still, OUCH!

My submission for broody.

She hatched out 3 of the 4 eggs. The 4th egg is in the incubator, not quite done cooking. I also slipped about 5 additional bantams and 1 LF under her. This is her first time ever being a momma and she is doing so great!

Candled tonight and pulled 8 eggs. Four of my shipped LF BBS frizzle cohcins ( 2 scrambled yolks, 1 non fertile and 1 blood ring) and 4 of my BLRW( 1 NF and 3 BR) Several others were suspect but I left them anyway and will Candle again right before lockdown.

I got home after dark and checked y pen and found one 7 week old Blue Marans cockerel dead:( I moved him and his hatch mates out to an out side pen last week when it was warm, they went in with some 3 to 4 month olds and I think he might not have been getting to eat much. I think I will add another pan or two to that pen to be sure they all get to eat.

But, I did have 2 newly hatched fuzzy butts in the hatcher

Superchemgirl, where in MD did you come from? I grew up there before getting married and moving to NC 30 + years ago.

OK, think I've got everyone so far for the "Hen/Pullet Stinkeye Contest". If you are missing or if I don't have the quote right or something, please PM me!

I have a broody due on Saturday... but Monday... a very cold day, she was off the nest for more than a couple hours

If she hatches any, I'll get some pics...

Day 10 candle results up next.

I candled too. I had 100% NONfertile English Orp eggs. That is 48 eggs out the door.

At least my other breeds are fertile. I am hatching now, and have about 75 out. The Delawares and Jersey Giants are just now starting. Barred Rocks, who are usually last to arrive, are mostly finished. I have SLWs, New Hampshires, Lav Orps, and some Olive Eggers here, too.
