I hatched my very first chickens (that I've ever even owned) last Friday and Saturday as part of Mahonri's Easter hatch, and today they are one week old! They were more than happy to stand for 1-week portraits.
The 5 Easter Eggers The first tan-ish one was the first to hatch and pipped on the afternoon of day 19!:
Three Speckled Sussexes (The last one was a sticky chick who is now a bit of a runt, but is growing quickly! We call him Lazarus, because we almost lost him!):
Three Welsummers (2 of these also stuck, but seem just as robust as the rest):
I am enjoying these energetic chickens so much! They had their first treat this morning - warm Greek yogurt mixed with some chick food. It was very exciting! They are also practicing flying and take turns trying to balance on a piece of cardboard I'm using to protect the water from shavings. I'm preparing a larger brooder - they'll be outgrowing their 45 gallon plastic tote soon!
