just got way worse. I just came home from a day in town and took him out to apply some neosporin to his booboo on his hock joint. (which is looking pretty bad now btw) i was gently masageing his foot and toes a little, when the skin on the tip of his toe started TO FALL OFF!!! it does it on his other toes two. it really freaked me out, i wasnt sure what to do, so i dipped his feet in beta dine and put him in quarantine in my room in a cage with a soft clean towel, water, and food. could it be bumble foot? i dont really know that much about it, but...maybe? IDK... so HIS SKIN IS FALLING OFF, like a big blister kinda, and i dont no what to do!!!!

should i be peeling it off, or not messing with it? neo sporin??? blue kote??? AAARRRGHHHH!!!! as you can see, im kinda freaking out a little bit here, this is my first real problem since i got my pigies about 10 months ago, so im new at this. ive had a billion chicken emergencys over the years, but this is new, and i really need help. thanks in advance.

There are some pigeon specific forums you can try, or maybe email some breeders or clubs for advice. I remember an aviary had a...trying to think of what bird it was. One of their passerines had a foot infection that led to most of the skin falling off. His leg was amputated, and he recovered well. I think he also had to get injections because the infection reached the bone. I would see a vet for this one if at all possible. Wishing speedy recoveries!

What exactly is falling off, and what does it look like beneath it? Maybe new skin is growing underneath and pushing off the old, dead skin? Or does it look like an open wound under there? Exclamation points do not help anybody understand the problem, but a clear description of what is going on might.

hello, sorry for lack of posting, but i was away form the internet for the weekend.
hes doing better... and worse...
@angusb it looks like open wounds underneith. hes really not using either of his legs, they both have bad scabs on the hock joint, so he kinds hobbles around limping with both legs, poor baby. i have him on antibiotics i got from the vet, 1cc 2 times a day oraly through a syringe. for 3 days we had his legs wrapped up in gause because of some bleeding, but we took them off so we could put antibacterial neoprorin type cream on it daily. we have him inside in a box with a soft towel, food and water. we have his mate lilly inside as well in another cage by his so they can see and hear each other but not get to each other because i heard that bumble foot/staf infection is contagous. also he has scab like things all over his feet that look like they could come off fairly easy but would bleed prolly a lot. some kinda darkened almost burnt looking areas of skin on his feet. so to re cap we are puting cream on and giving him antibiotics. what elese should we do? what can we do to keep it from happening again? in their aviary, they have chicken wire as the floor but only in their little outside place? could this have caused it? should we get smaller wire? should we not have Lilly that close to him? thanks in advance,
