Bad Doctor Experiences?

Quote:
There is no excuse for being treated badly or unprofessionalism, especially by someone in a field who should know better. Really, I would file a complaint, and be certain not to use that doctor again. No use in putting yourself through that same situation again.

The first (and only!) time I had a prostate exam. My Doctor was the oldest practicing Dr in the state. I figured, ok, how bad can it be? I assumed the position. OMG! It was like he took a running start and had a finger like a spruce tree.
I looked at him and said "holy cow, that wasn't pleasant"
He looked at me with a smirk and said "don't like that?...stay out of prison".
I just had to laugh.

I have had some horrible experiences with doctor over the years. I have also had some great doctors also. I just keep in mind a saying that I once heard. Do you know what they call the guy that finished last in his class?

answer

Doctor.

I also keep in mind that cheating in schools is a national pastime. It is scary to me when I find that I know about more things, than other people with "better educations". I am just a housewife. I still know when things aren't right.

I've experienced a good number of terrible doctors in my years as a juvenile diabetic. The experience you describe would have been terrifying for me. Bad doctors and nurses are responsible for causing me terrible anxiety every three months when I have to get blood drawn. I always thought doctors were supposed to help make you feel better after seeing them and many times after I'd go for my appointment I'd feel absolutely terrible. They were very good at causing me psychological anguish! Although, that tends to happen when you spend an hour defending your health and how you care for yourself to someone who sees you only once every three months.

I would definitely complain, and I would also be sure not to let that guy near me ever again!

Seems today that doctors just don’t care. I was driven to ER once after my horse (2,200lbs) threw me off and then ran over me twice. Got a hoof into the shin leg and one right on my kidney. Couldn’t move half of my body and was going into shock (I have had my fair share of injuries so I can judge pretty well when an injury is serious, and when not). First we sat in the ER for 2 hrs while I was going through a mental hell of when and how I would lose my kidney from this. Then the doctor came in, looked at where the horse trampled me and was more worried about the shin leg than my back. Turned out 3 doctors later that my horse missed my kidney for half an inch but damaged my sciatic nerve and it took me 2 years to recover. The doctor never gave a darn about me not being able to move half of my body, breaking out in sweats and shaking when trying to sit up. Didn’t even get pain meds. Oh well. Bad doctors are everywhere. I’ll take a vet over a human doctor any day.

Sorry you had a bad experience Jamie.

I've seen my share of bad doctors, even worked for a few. I run, not walk, away from them but not before giving them a piece of my mind.

Thanks everyone.

I ended up at my Gyn/RE office today after I spiked a 103.6 fever last night and was having a lot of lower abdomen pain. When I checked in the receptionist told me that one of the Administrators of the surgery center would be contacting me tomorrow to get more details about what happened. At least they are on the ball with a complaint and not trying to sweep it under the rug.
