2 Blue copper Marans. The one on the left looks black but he is really a very dark blue! Sometimes they can fool you. One way to tell is to look at the under-fluff, on the blues it will be greyish blue even on the very dark blues.

Monsieur Amour and his young ladies. There is a blue Ameraucana flirt squeezed in there too she loves him lol. He is not related to Cheepa but came from pasofino farms and from a very dark egg. He is an example of an over melanized BCM male.

Cocoa as a pullet. She is my darkest laying Blue Marans. She has a few feathers on her middle toe and that is a problem. I kept her due to her dark dark eggs, big bodacious body and nice lacing. There is no sweeter girl around here than Cocoa! I have been able to breed out the middle toe feather on her progeny and mostly keep the egg color, it has taken 3 years to do so due to the fact that all my solid blue marans had heavier shank feathering. Middle toe feathers are harder to breed out than some other things.

Baby Blues :) Solid blue Marans babies, 5 girls and 4 boys. None of these developed any copper on them and the pullets still grew up to lay dark eggs. . These are some of Cocoa and Bella's babies.

Thanks :) Some of the BCM that I have, I started out with Presley x Wade and slowly worked in birds from other Marans lines as needed, to adjust toward APA standard while preventing loss of egg color and getting the eggs even darker!
It was/is quite a tightrope situation. I now keep my BCM flocks closed for the last several yrs and work only within my own flock/s.

Your eggs are STUNNINGLY gorgeous! If you're ever willing to sell a dozen hatching eggs, please let me know. My Marans need some improvement on color and yours are the absolute best that I've seen!

beautiful! hope the potential BCM 4 week olds are actually that! they look similar to your 1mo old pictures that you have posted...fingers crossed! Hoping too that our guesses on their sexes are correct, i'm hoping for some lovely dark brown eggs! :D
