Final Frame - then he went home! There are 2 latches on the door, just in case. One screen door hook, and the other is a sliding latch. I painted it, then covered the entire frame in more hardware cloth. And staple-gunned the crap out of it. We were going to leave the entire top open but I decided they needed more cover from rain, and added a piece of plywood, which is extremely warped now. But it was a good move. The run is still just big enough that we can leave the girls in there for a day or two if we have to be gone and don't have anyone to let them in or out OR decide they need to be locked down for safety. The new front run is 77" L x 63" W x 44" H

The frame is attached to the main coop with screen door type latches. Not that it's going anywhere - and probably doesn't need to be attached because it's too heavy for any animal except like a bear to move it (not much chance of that here!). But we can detach and move it if we should decide that we'd like to reposition the whole setup some day.

My clever brother is responsible for this design. First we removed the left arm of the tractor and both wheels. We placed the main coop on pavers. We prepped the ground by digging a bit down, the put river rocks down for drainage. Then pavers, then the coop. Between coop and run area, more rocks, and then landscaping edging between the coop and the new run. We dug down just over 1 foot all the way around the front of the frame, and buried 1 ft of hardware cloth. That was HARD! Outlined with pavers, more river rocks, then he put in the frame. ***I'm calling them pavers which is not what they are. They are cement blocks, but the little top sections. Basically the top of a cement block. Sorry for the 'girl' description, I'm out of my realm of expertise here.
