It began with two goose eggs.
We discovered that one of the two female geese had begun to build a nest carefully "hidden" (she thought) behind the big bale of straw.
This shelter, left with a narrow space behind the large bails of straw and hay (covered here to protect them from rain and snow during the on-coming winter), has become a nesting place for one of the female Chinese geese.

Two of the female muscovy ducks -- the marks on the back of the neck are birthmarks -- before they began sitting on their eggs after less than a month of moving in.
Photos taken the first days of arrival when everyone was penned into an area under the open barn where they would learn to return at night to sleep. The area turned out to be perfect, though we're building a new shelter made exclusively of pallets and bording a pond dug for both breeds to swim in during the warmer months here in northern France.
Our three Chinese geese or "oies de guinée" in French and two of our five muscovy geese or "canards de barbarie" in French.
