The garden pen- ghetto, but effective.
First chicks- two hatched by the mama, then others (not all in this pic, but a total of 7) boughten chicks that she cared for.
My very first hatched chick! I love how they're looking at each other, like the chick is saying "huh, so you're my mom" and she's like "yes, yes I am."
Fermenting broiler feed.
The other "pet," a buckeye hen who came down with crooked neck just before this picture was taken (she's mostly healed here, although you can still kind of see the swelling in her left, your right, eye). Instead of culling her, as I should have, I kept her as a pet, because she is the only chicken who will jump up onto my lap.
