Now the fun part. I lifted the end closest to the coup and then used wide ratchet straps to get it up onto the edge of the ceiling.

Here we begin to see what it will look like. The center section on top will be used to store hay for the winter.
I wrapped more straps around the door header and 2'x4's that were resting on it. This would help keep it from sliding while I worked it into place. After bracing everywhere I thought might push, pull or bend, I put two wide straps around the end sticking up and wrapped them around the doubled up section of the ceiling joists. I tightened it up a few clicks then went and lifted and blocked up the end closest to the ground. I repeated this process until it fell into place. Whew!!! It might have been easier to build it in place.
Once I had it sitting on top I went back and forth to each side inching it closer and closer.
Now the fun part. I lifted the end closest to the coup and then used wide ratchet straps to get it up onto the edge of the ceiling.
Hard to see but the 2'x4 ceiling and rim joists are lifted into place and secured.
Now the roof. Given that I am building this by myself I thought it might be easier to build the roof/storage section on the ground and then raise it up later. I built the 2'x4 ceiling and rim joists then the center section. I did not attach them together as I figured it would be easier to put them up separately as well.
Yeah! Four walls are up. The front wall will have double doors for easy access to clean the floor. The wall on the left will have a window and 10 nesting boxes. The food and water systems will mount on the back wall.
