The coop is mostly framed out and taking shape. I'm enjoying this project very much, I like the design that I have come up with for my coop.
The coop is insulated and the wiring has been run. I'll be able to power the coop and control the lighting for the chickens during the winter. This should aid in maintaining egg production, even during the short days of deep winter. I also installed a theromstat so that the temperature in the coop can be maintained to provide comfort for the chickens on those cold Colorado Winter Nights.
Our ducks are Kaki Campbells. This is a known egg breed and I have high hopes
We started with 6 Buff Orpintons. They have such a cute personality as chicks.

When I first started building the coop this is my initial layout. The posts are 4x4 posts and the floor of the coop is 3/4 inch Marine Plywood. The footprint of the coop is 5x6 feet. More than enough room for my 4 chickens and 2 ducks.
