This is Elvira, my rescue chicken, who recently has joined my flock. She spent the last year by herself in the woods, with no shelter, here in rainy, cool Southwest Washington. She did get a little food from the neighbors but its a miracle she survived. I know there are challenges integrating new chickens to an existing flock, but I could not leave her out there by herself any longer. So far, so good.

Here are the little girls - now 3+ months old.

The big back door with window gives me easy access to clean the coop. The vent on this side is temperature activated - opens gradually once the temperature reaches 40 degrees. Got it from a greenhouse supply.

The water comes from a rain barrel fed by the roof of the adjacent garden shed.

This coop/run was designed based on looking at what seemed like thousands of photos, especially on this website. Note the Pullet Door, PVC feeder, sand floor (coop too), drip water both inside and outside the enclosure. There are several roosts inside which you can barely see. The Pullet Door is solar with photo sensor to open and close it automatically. Awesome!
