This is Penelope Pitstop! She has a white racing stripe down her back, so of course she had to have a name that fit!
Here are our later additions to the flock. They came from a friend, and they stick together like glue! The one sitting is an Ameracauna, whom we haven't exactly named yet. The standing chicken our friend hatched from his Plymouth Rock Rooster and his Rhode Island Red hens. She is beautiful, shy, and large, and sticks by her one girlfriend... so we call her Brienne of Tarth!
Deep in a little hole in this crazy pile of scrap, we found someone hiding eggs!

This is our little Princess Crookedfoot. We bought her from the leftover stock a local supply store had - we got all three of our leghorns for a dollar each. This girl came to us with her little crumpled foot, but she uses it just like she's supposed to! Initially I worried about her being able to perch, or whether she'd be able to scratch as well as the others, but she's one of the more active and curious chickens we have!

Most of the girls are in this shot. They had a little feeding station out at the woodpile for a while when they first started free ranging. Now they're learned to gorge on all the bugs, slug, and worms IN the woodpile!!
