This is the hubby putting on one of the last pieces of plywood on the coop. We have hardware cloth covering the openings on the top of the coop and we later cut out more plywood pieces to fit the openings to close the coop up with hinges and latches when it gets cooler.
Besides the painting job that needs to be done, the coop is finished. The run just needs to be enclosed and covered with a light "wildlife" netting and the girls are free to roam.
Here are my 3 kiddos and Daddy digging post holes for the run. Dad could hardly get the post holes dug before the kids would try to help fill them back in.

We started this coop out with 4 pallets to frame it out. Then we added tamarack poles for the base of the roof and some 2 x 4s to create more structural support.
