* Four of our gals working an area of one of the raised gardens I opened up to them. We are about to do a second planting and these ladies love to till it up and fertilize as they go. Their droppings are still, "Hot," but they don't add enough to worry about. I will add composted manure and bedding, toss in a little scratch and let them go again before replanting. Mary wants more raised beds, so off to build another.

* Our 2nd grader, Lydia, is discovering chickens can be friendly and demanding. Lydia had coaxed her up with a grape and the hen is asking for more.

* An in progress photo of coop, Design borrowed from the backyard chicken gallery. We changed a couple of things. The entire front bottom is removable and so is the upper right side for extra ventilation. They aren't seen in this photo. We added primer as we went to protect the wood from humidity. I still have to paint the entire thing. It was built over a few days with the help of Mary's dad.
