Depends on location....they do better in cold climates, here in South Texas they don't do well at all. Yes, they are prolific diggers. Not very vocal, usually!

I don't know if your being serious or just being humorous? but yes, to answer your question, pear trees grow in Texas. Warren, Asian, Ayers and Barrlett to a degree. Pear trees need a cold period to produce fruit. That photo appears to be AI....I have never witnessed a partridge in a pear tree.
