I separated her from the flock and put her in the hen hospital/broody coop with some Apple cider vinegar water and some food. She drank water when I initially put her in there.
I just took her out of the coop this morning and she has her tail up only slightly higher, ate a little bit of seeds and mealwooms, has walked around a little bit. Stool is green with white. She is somewhat interacting with the hens through the chicken wire.
She eats her usual layer crumbles, foraging in the grass daily, mealworms daily, and over the past 3 days it's been some bananas.
As for laying, I can't say that I've seen her in the nesting box lately, and by lately I mean the time she has been sick and a bit before. So perhaps 3-4 days...
So about yesterday afternoon, I noticed my big hen, Burrito was looking lethargic, sitting in the coop. For reference, she is a 4 year old Buff Orphington. I was immediately alarmed as this is of course odd during midday. Later on the chickens got let out to free range and I had to pull her out...
My apologies for the late reply. She seems to be doing fine! Although I believe the others are still pulling her feathers. She still mingles with then and she is friendly and social.
So my 11 month old polish just now spit up this. She seems to be in good spirits, making her usual noises and before this was drinking, and after was eating both feed and mealworms. I don't know if she maybe just haf an issue with some long grass she ate today or anything. But she did eat some...
Well. Mites can be deadly. But if you catch it in time there are simple fixes. Try tossing some diotemateus earth in the run and coop. It will kill any parasites or bugs instantly. I dump some in at least once every week or every other week. Also, try and feed some cilantro to your chicken. It's...
:lol:LOL! I have an Americuna that squeezes into the nesting box to inspect the dummy eggs all the time. She's to young to lay though. I'll have to post some pictures of the nesting box. The Buffs are quite large, maybe the entrance is too small.
I may try that... Because I heard if one lays somewhere they all do. My Buff Orpingtons are all laying in either the left or right corners of the coop.
Alright, I need help. My hens just started laying a few days ago. The first few were out of the nesting box, which I had researched and this was normal at first. But now they keep laying there. I put some dummy eggs in the nesting box, but they do not even go in there. I have fresh, clean hay in...
