Just wondering at what point you euthanize due to this problem. Esther frequently looks like she feels miserable, and today I saw her clearly straining to poop and just a little bit came out. She clearly doesn’t feel good, and will obviously never be productive again….I feel sorry for her and...
You may remember my issues in November with Esther, one of my Easter Eggers.

Well, since then, when I gave her a course of fish mox, she has got through a molt, and has also recovered from...
Just following this up. The sick hen, Esther, is seeming a lot better. She had a molt and has recovered nicely—her comb and wattle are nice and red, she’s acting pretty normal. However, she is still having very loose poop, sometimes even watery. And I don’t think she is laying at all. She is...
Last November, I had a sick hen: Sick Hen thread
She recovered pretty well, after a course of antibiotics, but her poop is still not normal. It's very loose and/or watery. In addition, I am not convinced that she is laying.
As I mentioned before, I have four hens. Two (heritage breeds)...
Spray painter
I actually did take a photo of it, but must have deleted it from my phone. 😔
Oh, and there were two other smaller blobs, roughly egg-shaped but little....same color as the large blob.
No, I didn't examine the odd blob too closely, but it was definitely not poop!
As for size, it was about the size of a large poop. And yes, it did look rather like photos of a lash egg. What do I do about that? All of the hens are acting pretty normal......
I have four chickens. Two are heritage breeds (Buff Orpington and Black Austrolorp) and two are TSC Easter Eggers.
The Buff is not laying anymore (about four years old) and the Austrolorp has been laying a bit (also four years old).
The Easter Eggers are younger, around two.
So, none of...
Well all four hens loved the buttermilk/rice combo the first day. The second day, everyone ate it again—-except for the hen who needs it. Very frustrating!
This’ll be ok for the other hens too, right?
Thanks for the suggestion, I will definitely try it! Just happen to have some buttermilk in the freezer too. :yesss:
So she’s been done with her five days of fish mox for awhile; she’s acting more herself but still having very watery poop. Is this normal? Also today I saw her have a pretty normal poop but it was greenish.
Thoughts?
Yesterday she got two pills and this morning she was off the roost when I went to open their door, and she went outside. She’s moving slowly, but she’s already better than yesterday! I was able to get the pill into her this morning too. Hopefully this will do the trick!! 🤞
