2/3 of my hens are pecking

We are trying the peeper glasses, I will let you know how it goes. At the feed store, they told me to try Vicks on the chickens who have had their feathers plucked. They are a mess! I can't wait till the weather is nicer next week., they are all getting baths.

    pecking problem

How long do you think the pinless peepers should be on the chickens. We have such a problem. 6 chickens and 4 have really been demolished with their feathers. We put the glasses on them today but I am wondering how long they need to be on. I hated doing it but it is that or get rid of them...

Chicks water always dirty in brooder

I hang my water container on a chain so that is is elevated off the ground. It works well. I read somewhere that if you put a tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar in the water, that it helps the chickens against certain kinds of diseases. Has anyone else heard of that. I do it, it doesn't seem...

Q: Why does Purina recommend feeding a single feed?

I live in Southern California, my chickens have stopped laying eggs. I guess they are beginning to start their molting {?}. There are feathers all over the place every day. I only have three chickens, I spoil them to death. My question is: Is there anything that I should be doing this time...

    Molting at a TERRIBLE TIME!

Hi, my chickens have not laid any eggs in the past 2 months. Do you think they will start when the days are longer? I thought about a light on them with a timer but I also thought maybe I should let Mother Nature do its thing. I really miss the fresh eggs. The chickens are really fluffying...

    Molting at a TERRIBLE TIME!

Thank you for the advice. I was up at 3am this morning worrying about Minnie. When I checked on her this morning, she looked fine. I gave her scrambled eggs, meal worms, cut up lettuce and celery. I also put wood shavings in the pen, to see how the chickens liked it. My girls will be 2 in...

    Molting at a TERRIBLE TIME!

My beautiful Bantum chicken has been molting terribly and I am not sure if the other chickens are picking at her or what. She is acting funny and none of my 3 chickens are laying eggs now. It is like they just quit! The others are molting a little but "Minnie" is terrible. I think i am...

Where do Chickens Sleep? (Roost or Nest Box)?

Our 3 chickens are almost 6 months old. Two of them are laying. We have a covered, enclosed area for the chickens with a roost (a 2" board) across the enclosed area and a roost area with 3 nest boxs. All of a sudden they are sleeping on the roost (the 2" board ) all snuggled together. How...
