My best laying chicken has decided to molt during this extremely cold winter (here in Ohio). Her back is nearly bare! She is currently in her coup, which has a heat lamp in it, but of course that will barely raise the temperature in the coup to freezing.
My question to the forum is whether I should move her inside, into a "hospital" area (a plastic horse watering tank)? I'm wondering if she will get frostbite on her exposed skin or maybe even die from exposure? Needless to say, she is staying in her coup most of the time.
