Thank you for explaining what calcium is for in this situation. Should I give her more than 300 mg and how often should I give her calcium.
I don't know what lash material with a tail means. This is the first time I have had this happen to a chicken. I will research it now. If you have more...
I gave her 300 mg of calcium but I forgot to ask why you recommended it? I have a feeder with oyster shell calcium in their run as well as another for grit. I have everything set up for tomorrow to work on trying to release the egg from the vent.
No, not yet. I will look for a bottle of Tums otherwise I take calcium and can give her that. It's Sunday and our local vet isn't open and not sure about tomorrow being that it's Labor Day. I have her isolated in a pen in the garage for now. I lubricated her vent with Vaseline and hope that...
I think it’s soft shelled when I first touched it but now the air has dried it and it’s hard. I used olive oil to see if it would detach but it won’t. I will post a photo of it connected to a red stringy thing coming from inside her vent.
Thank you so much for replying.
I apologize if this is the wrong thread to post my concern. Can anyone tell me what is hanging from Scarlet’s vent area? After I stopped panicking I think it might be a malformed egg but not sure. I gently pulled on it to see where it’s attached and a small section is stuck to her vent. I don’t...
Scarlet's right foot was pinkish on Sunday. I checked all the way up her leg and found nothing suspicious. I ran her feet under warm water and washed them to check for injury but found nothing. Today both of her feet are pinkish. When I put her in the coop this evening her feet felt warm so I...
No visible injury or anything wrapped around her leg to cause a loss of circulation. Yes, both legs are straight and no limping. Before I locked the coop for the night I felt both of her feet and they were warm but I don't know if it's because she was laying on them for a bit before I got to...
Hi there. My Production Red hen's right foot and leg is pinkish and cold, yet the left foot is warm. A few scales on her leg were also slightly lifted, so I sprayed Poultry Protector. Later, I used a warm paper towel on her foot. Has anyone else experienced this with their chickens? I have...
