Something hanging out of hen’s vent area

I apologize if this is the wrong thread to post my concern. Can anyone tell me what is hanging from Scarlet’s vent area? After I stopped panicking I think it might be a malformed egg but not sure. I gently pulled on it to see where it’s attached and a small section is stuck to her vent. I don’t want to pull any harder in case it tears that delicate area and causes bleeding. Does anyone have advice on how to remove it without harming her?
Thank you.

I think that she has either an egg or lash egg stuck in a prolapse. I would look carefully for an opening in the sack where you could try and maneuver the egg out. If a vet is available soon, that might be good. Does the egg feel shell-less or hard shell?

A dose of huma pn calcium 300-600 mg orally or a Tums may be helpful. Keep the vent prolapse from drying out by lubricating with honey or oil? This video shows the owner trying to retrieve the egg:

I think it’s soft shelled when I first touched it but now the air has dried it and it’s hard. I used olive oil to see if it would detach but it won’t. I will post a photo of it connected to a red stringy thing coming from inside her vent.
Thank you so much for replying.

Yes, I believe it is her cloaca on the outside. Have you given a calcium tablet or Tums. If not I would get some and look for a slit or opening of the vent, or take her to a vet if possible. The opening can be very hard to find. I have only read about this in threads. It can reoccur. Is she young to laying?

No, not yet. I will look for a bottle of Tums otherwise I take calcium and can give her that. It's Sunday and our local vet isn't open and not sure about tomorrow being that it's Labor Day. I have her isolated in a pen in the garage for now. I lubricated her vent with Vaseline and hope that keeps it from drying out. I also have mineral oil so do you think that is a better option? She is able to poop so I'm glad she isn't backed up. Tomorrow I will try to find the vent opening. I watched the entire video link you suggested but Scarlet's case seems not so clear cut. She is 2 years and 4 months old and laid 6/7 days a week. She just started to molt so that's why I thought she stopped laying but yesterday I found one of her eggs which was hard shelled but smaller than usual.

Mineral oil or vaseline are both good to keep the prolapse moist. It is good that she is able to poop. Usually with egg binding they cannot poop. Calcium with D 3 is fine, or calcium. Just pop into her beak to swallow. Let us know how she is doing in the morning.
