How do I tame my wild BA's ?

I bought eight Blk. Australorps from a local farm store. They get their chicks from Hoover hatchery. From day-one they were wild and jumpy. They are not as bad now, as I've tried to hand feed them treats. What is the best way to tame them down?

    Introducing Grit

I have eight Bk. autralorps that are now eight weeks old. When they were two weeks old, I added a light sprinkling of grit to their chick starter feed. They are doing fine and still receiving grit this way. They are being kept indoors as it is cold here.

Baby chick, no heat or hen..help.

Why go through the hassle and expense? Keep it alive until you find someone who can use it. Many years ago people would give away rabbits and chicks at Easter time. Most would end up dead within a short time.

Thanks for your post. I have eight B A's that are 8-weeks old. Very jumpy and not friendly. I may have to put them on our dinner table when they get big enough. I'd like some good egg producers, but not sure what breed to get. 2oldnow
