If you aren't feeding them yogurt, give it a try! It's loaded with
calcium. My barred rock won't eat the oyster shells, so I try to give her calcium
from other foods. Also I crush up the eggs shells and feed it back to them
Thank you all so much for all of your posts!
I did talk to the farm where i got her.....and she is a BANTAM
I am kinda new to this ..it's my second year of being a " Chicken Mama"
and i am loving every minute of it!
I did contact the farm i got her at, she is a bantam..i guess that explains it all!
When I can get a pic i will post. We named her Eore, from Winnie the Pooh.
Thanks everyone for your advice and comments
I have 2 White Leghorns, 2 Jersey Giants, 2 Barred rocks, and one full grown barred rock, all hens.
She is eating well and pushes her way in the get to the food
Thanks for the advise! She doesn't have any discharge, just little drops of blood when she lays her egg. Other than that she seems fine. I did the apple cider vinegar today and using the Vetercyn spray. Hopefully she will start to heal.
My hen has an awful looking butt, red raw , but she is still laying eggs , eating, acting normal.
I have been spraying her with Vectricyn every day. She seems no better, but not getting worse.
When she lays the egg there is some slight bleeding.
Any ideas on other treatment?
Or should i put her in a dog crate in the coop?
I did put Vetericyn on her, she seems fine...eating
drinking, scratching...all of the "things" chickens do :-)
I have 2 barred rocks one is pecking the others butt, eating the feathers. Should i get her out of there, and keep her inside till she is fairly healed?
I did spray her with anti biotic spray
I'm going to open the chicken door tomorrow. If they come out , i'll watch and see how long until they go back in.
They love being out and scratching, this will be the 3rd day of solitary confinement!
I wish I could free range mine. Too many predators :-/
I do have a question off topic. We have been part of the deep freeze,
and I have kept my chickens in the coop during the day. Is ok to let them
out in the run with temps still in the single digits during the day? I have a new coop, and I...
An update on my sick girl, she passed away peacefully this morning. Losing the first one is the hardest.
Thank you all for you quick responses to my post the other day :-/
