Thanks for the info, I've never heard of cuckoo silkie before. My 11 year old daughter gave $5 for him at the stock swap. The people she bought him from said they'd never heard him crow, and never seen him breed. Doesn't matter, he'll be our pet.
I picked this guy up at a stock swap today. He's got some silkie features, such as 5 toes, and the coloring of a barred rock. Very good temperament, very friendly. What do I have?
It's kinda weird. My full size hens have never eaten eggs, just my bantams. The one that I know is doing it broke an egg while I was reaching for it! I may have to separate her from the rest.
I took the divider out of the coupe, and the bb reds have more room. Built another enclosure for the sebrites, and gave both a separate bowl for oyster shell. I got 2 undamaged eggs today from the bb's(4 hens), so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I have bb red, and golden Sebright bantams in a divided coupe. Lately, I've been getting fewer eggs from both, and caught one of the Sebrights eating an egg. They are eating well, and get treats like table scraps regularly. I feed them a mixture of laying mash, and chick starter. How can I...
I recently bought a pair of Golden Sebright's, and they're quickly becoming my favorite chickens. Bought these at a stock swap and I'd like to get a few more, but in my years of going to stock swaps, these are the first of this breed I've seen.
I've never bought chicks from a hatchery, and I'd...
I have 7 sex links that have gone from 5-6 eggs daily, to 2. This has been happening for 4-5 weeks. I've given them oyster shell, and table scraps. I have 4 younger barred rocks that are laying 2-3 daily. What am I missing?
Hens are doing well with chicks. Chicks are active and eating. One more chick is very weak, and I made the mistake of putting it back under the hen. I got pecked several times!
I've got 3 silkie hens and 1 rooster in a pen. 2 of the hens have been sitting, and the eggs are hatching. One chick is dead, and I'm afraid for the rest. Should I put them in my brooder, or let the hens take care of them?
Started 12 eggs in the same incubator a few days ago, and now the counter is counting backward! It has been counting from 21 down, now it's counting up, and it's on 26. Have I done something wrong, or do I need a new incubator? The instructions are not very helpful.
