Yes the box is built up off the ground with a wire bottom. We have never had issues like this before. UPDATE: Saturday morning i elevated the box a little more and she stayed in the box until last evening. No more broodiness. Thankyou for the help.
I will try that. Thank you We do close off the nesting boxes at night and she does go back to the perch with the rest of the girls. Tonight I watched her hop up on the perch.
I have a 3 yr old Buff Orpington that has been broody for 10 days now. We put her in the box of shame (as we refer to it) every morning. This girl is our broody one but it has never lasted more than 2-3 days in the past. Suggestions
Update on Gracie,
We came to the conclusion that she got something stuck in her throat. I massaged her throat a little and put her to bed. I got up early and checked on her. She was back to herself this morning.
