Wow how crazy of timing! Adoption could be very nice. I believe Tiff has adopted locally.
Sorry we don't have any more chicks for sale. We sold all of the extras already.
We just received our chick shipment today. Not only did all chicks survive, but they sent us some extras as well! These chicks were sexed, all pullets, and will be laying by spring. If anyone in Las Vegas is interested in the following breeds, please contact me.
8 Araucana (blue/green eggs)...
Man you gotta love eggs. No one ever believes me that they practically don't go bad. Thanks for all the info. Also, I am going to try going back to the boil water first method of boiling eggs and use room temperature eggs. I love hard boiled eggs but peeling them is KILLING me.
I like this ideaMuddyHillFarm. I pulle dmy spent sunflower plants and gave the whole things to the chickens. They loved it! This year I will plant a bunch next to their run for excercise.
I use Purina Flock Raiser and my girls lay year round. Some chickens stop laying here in the Vegas hot summers. But mine have lots of shade and misters.
I like to give my girls melon grown in the garden. On very hot days I'll freeze them. They get a lot of leftovers, exra garden veggies, leftover greens, dug up veggie plants and of course dried mealworms are a favorite. They loved tearing apart the sunflower plants I threw in to them.
Hello all, I'm new to the BYC forum. I live on the south side of town and just ordered the chicks with Tiff in NV. I currently have 4 standard hens and 2 bantams. Our new chicks just arrives yesterday and today!! Not only did all survive but they shipped extras as well. So if anyone in town...
Thanks for the ideas guys. I am currently debating enclosing the space underneath my coop to use as a second coop space. Then building a separate run off of it where the new chickens can see and hear the flock but not get attacked. Glad to hear that this works.
Oooo thanks for asking this question. I have been cooking and eating the slightly cracked ones immediately and then tossing it if it was severely cracked or pecked at. Seems like I am on track.
Wow I never would have thought about "dying" the eggs with food colouring in the vent. I have 4 hens but never gotten 4 eggs in a day. I am suspicous that one of mine does not lay. I think I might try this to figure out who lays what. Great suggestion.
