Swollen but not hard crop(similar to waterbelly)

Hey all, I have a 9-10 montjh old hen whose crop is very prominent. She layed for a bit in the fall but hasn't been during the shorter days. The crop is not hard but feels like a giant jiggly waterballoon. I tried uploading a video but I could only get pictures to load. She doesn't seem to...

We built a chicken bus and bring our hens out to the pasture for field trips; they love it!

Lethargic hen, no appetite. Not sure what’s wrong!

One hen tried to fly out if the coop to lay an egg and was brutally attacked by a dog. I thought she was a goner but I've been cleaning her wounds everyday for two weeks and was initially force feeding/drinking her but she's been slowly getting better. She's begun to eat and drink on her own and...

Lethargic hen, no appetite. Not sure what’s wrong!

I'm so sorry to hear this. I wish you could have figure out the problem. It seems you did the best you could though and that should be some comfort in itself. I'm caring for two sick and injured hens right now and I'm not sure what I'll do if their conditions deteriorate. I'm glad you had a...

    Treating hen for ascites

Ok, good. Thanks for getting back to me. I've accepted that this is only a treatment and not a cure. I just want her as happy and comfortable as possible. Thanks again!

    Treating hen for ascites

Hey everybody, I posted yesterday about my chicken being sick and we came to the consensus that she was suffering from ascites. I just performed the liquid withdrawal procedure with a syringe and got 105ml(3.5 fl oz) out of her(well within the safe range). Unfortunately, I had to stick her 3...

How is her belly? Is it normal or enlarged and soft?

    Is this bumblefoot

I can't really tell here. But from what I've read it's good to soak their feet in a warm Epsom salt bath. If it's not a bad case it should help. Either way I'm sure you're chicken will enjoy the soak!

Help possible infection and soft eggs stuck

I'm sorry about your hen. I'm new to chicken health but I do know that when it comes to antibiotics it's really important to stick to a specific and consistent dosage for a number of days. So I'd really try to make sure the medicine fits the ailment and then stick with the plan. I wish I knew...

Hey everyone, I'm Pete. Thought I'd introduce myself to the chicken community using the suggested template. (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We rescued 12 chickens about a year ago. One died soon after, she literally just keeled over and died in front of us one day...

Dragging butt, lethargic, waling like sumo wrestler

Wow, thank you for the super helpful resources! I'm getting up first thing tomorrow morning to treat her for this. I hope she can hold out long enough for me to treat her, she's so big now and I just want her to feel better. Thanks again!
