Help! There is a skunk in my coop now!

I would think it would not want to be there for very long? Is it still there?

    Moving my ducks...

It would be smart to build some sort of "coop" or shelter for them at night. If a pretator wants them it will get them, they are not above being hurt. Especially in a new area that you don't know what's out there yet. It doesn't take much to build a shelter at all, a couple of hours and some...

    Poop poop. Not peep peep!

My only suggestion is to please remove those paint cans so the ducks don't get sick. They will try to eat anything that's around. Good luck, the mess only gets bigger as they grow. We use a plastic palet for the bottom of their separated "kitchen" in their coop and the water just runs out of...

    Runner Duck Attacking my feet

First of all, how adorable that she lives inside with you! What do you do about the poo? We didn't research it at all, but I would bet this is an instinctual behavior, and not based on any kind of agression. Also it's probably just a phase. That is so cute!!

    Feeding ducks and chickens

We give both the ducks and chickens non medicated chicken feed. They love it, we use crumbles and pellets off and on. We give the ducks lettuce, they love it, and both of them scarf down corn tortillas! Along with most veggie leftovers and fruits, hot oatmeal and cornmeal they love too!!

    Do ducks get lonely?

We have both ducks and chickens and they all seem to be best friends if they grow together. The duck should have a buddy though, swim mates as you would say. We feed them the same Non Medicated food as the chickens.

    Thoughts or concerns?

The only thing we would recommend is put the water right next to the food because they don't have salivary glands and they need to have the water along with their food at the same time... We can't see exactly what you're asking is right or wrong though...??

Our chickens & ducks thrive in the winter in the Idaho Mountains!

Yes, we leave the light so they get a full 12 hours of daylight. Seems to help with keeping up the egg laying.

Our chickens & ducks thrive in the winter in the Idaho Mountains!

People ask if chickens and ducks can tolerate the winter weather and ours have been fine with a simple light bulb, shelter, and water all the time. We use heated buckets for water to stay thawed out. Here are some recent pictures after a huge snow storm.

    HELP - duckling is bleeding!

Did you get this figured out? Doesn't look like you'd want to wait on that if you can help it.

    Hawk killed our chicken!

We have 2 ducks and had 7 chickens, all are aloud to roam the fenced yard during the day. I went outside last evening, before it was dark, to check on them. I startled a great big hawk that was on top of one of the chickens. It flew away, but I was too late. Poor little girl was dead. I'm...

    ~Winter water???

I've gone through 2 of these types of waterers now. The cords don't hold up and tend to separate and break. They also only keep the water unfrozen, to 10 degrees. I've gone with the same company Farm Innovators, and love the heated water buckets. They have 2 and 4 gallon ones and keep from...
