    Red ear lobes turning white

Thank you. I applied cream to his earlobes and comb tonight. He was up on the perch as happy as can be tonight. Did notice several of his tail feathers were on the ground. Will continue to keep an eye on it. He was hunkered down when I took the pictures. He usually stands up so proud, tall...

    Red ear lobes turning white

My yr old rooster's earlobes are turning white. He stays in the coop all day. Usually behind the brooder (not in use). At night he does perch with the others. We have 2 roosters and 17 hens and have had this number for a long time now. He has been doing this for the last few days. Coop is...

    Broody hens eggs not hatching

Thank you. I can wait. The reason why I'm concerned for my hen is that she sat on eggs that didn't hatch. after 26 days I candled, removed and added 6 eggs. She has been on these 6 eggs for 25 days. Same thing with my pekin duck. Thank you for your time and suggestion.

    Broody hens eggs not hatching

I have a hen that sat on eggs that never hatched. I removed the eggs and put new eggs under her. We are at day 25 now and nothing. She has been such a protective body hen not leaving her eggs much at all and I'm concerned that it isn't good for her to keep sitting. The eggs should be fertile...

    Injured Duck leg? any advice

I'm interested in what veteran duck keepers suggest. As we have a 5 week old duckling that has an injured leg. She is doing better but still keeps leg at 90 degree angle and doesn't want to use much.

two different sets of chicks in new flock

We are in the process of building the large coop. We have just a small section to complete but we have to mill the wood and sawmill broke. We put out old coop (4'x6') in the place of the wall needing to be finished. That's where we lock the flock up at during the night. The small coop has a...

two different sets of chicks in new flock

They free range in our back yard, just over a half acre. We have talked about building a covered run that connects into the coop. Right now just free ranging. I've thought about letting them free range with the flock. Sunset, the broody hen has acted like she wants to get out of the...

Okay... defiantly something I need to look into. I've been concerned about feeding correctly.

    Hen fighting with Rooster

I should look into the protein. I didn't know that 20% protein was not best for them. I'll study on that. I mix laying pellets (20%) with scratch in the feeder. We give them kitchen scraps almost daily.

    Hen fighting with Rooster

When I originally poated,I thought they were fighting. She had gone face to face with him and had lost a good amount of feathers. I kept watching after I posted. I think that was an isolated incident. Since then they've been normal but lost even more feathers. I've read quick loss of...
