Lone Orpington in a flock of Brahmas - good or bad?

And sorry, my original post was not clear!

Lone Orpington in a flock of Brahmas - good or bad?

Yes absolutely, that's why I'm adding two and looking for a friend for the already confirmed buff cochin 😊 Great that you don't see any breed based things to worry about, thanks for taking the time to respond!

Lone Orpington in a flock of Brahmas - good or bad?

Hi! Low stakes question - I'm usually here when there is an emergency so this feels nice for a change 🙂 I've got space for two new girls in my flock of big breeds. The four current members are all brahma of different colours, including one rooster. One of the new girls will be a buff cochin...

    Hen with exaggerated breathing!?

Yes I've checked her multiple times because she was looking ratty even before, but nothing. This is weirdly her first ever adult moult (she's about a year and 4 months old), so it was about time. I also did a major coop clean, sprayed with permethrin, and installed those little cups of oil by...

    Hen with exaggerated breathing!?

Hey, how is your hen doing? Mine is the same, although I realised that she's also slowly and unseasonally molting. Not sure if that has anything to do with it but they can be weird while going through it. You probably already know this but I did some research on chicken anatomy and found out...

    Hen with exaggerated breathing!?

Hey, my hen has exactly the same breathing while seeming otherwise healthy! I literally just posted about it. We have had her on antibiotics for 5 days with no improvement. I'm following here and will also let you know if I figure anything out. I was wondering about gapeworm since antibiotics...

Heavy breathing - gapeworm or respiratory illness?

Hi, my 1.5 year old brahma Cookie is breathing heavily, in a way that's making her whole body pulse. See video for an example from the front. See how her whole neck is inflating. From the back, her butt is also moving with her breath, and when she lies down her whole body is well... pulsating...

Anyone out there in France ?

Yep, I am here! In the southern tip of Haute Garonne - land of sudden peaks, ravines, beech and sweet chestnut - where nobody actually eats cassoulet and the brave subsist on pate de cerf from the local hunt.

    Goat and Sheep Thread!

So far they are wonderful! They are tame, friendly, inquisitive and super cute, and they'll even eat brambles which is a nice bonus where I live. I've had to catch them to deworm them once, and I was very happy that they are so small and light 😅

Where I live (France) they are very common!

Help, I need sheep proof chicken gates!

I'm not sure, they've only been here for two weeks

Help, I need sheep proof chicken gates!

Yes that's kind of what I'm thinking. I'm guessing that if the rungs are round they might be difficult for the sheep

Help, I need sheep proof chicken gates!

Hello everyone, I recently got a small herd of tiny sheep that graze in the same large area where the chickens free range. Well, turns out sheep and chicken body language is a bad match, and the sheep's tendency to flock, play and seek food with great determination is hard for the chickens to...

    Goat and Sheep Thread!

This is my dream! I hope they will end up super chilled together. Mine don't sleep together but it seems like the sheep have selected hazelnut bush that the chickens have been favouring for years (they basically spend all stationary time there) as their favourite hangout and siesta place. I...
