Hi. I haven't had much luck with those saddles either. I started making a few on my own, I now have a jacket with a Velcro design (adjustable on the front) that has been working much better. We call it the frock. You can see it on Buffy (on my profile picture here). I made a few extra for my...
Our chickens are pets who pay rent (rent being eggs). That being said, they still are pets, we wouldn't eat them. In fact we have a polish hen who becomes egg bound and I would be happy if she never laid another egg (she's our top hen). They bring a lot of joy to our lives and keep the bugs...
Found chicken! Driving home last night I saw a chicken walking on the side of the freeway. On 5-99 between Seattle and Tukwila. I stopped and with the help of a trucker I was able to catch him. He looks like a modern game cockerel. Anyone missing one? And if not missing want one?
Thanks! I'll do that. He's a nice little guy and seems used to people. Granted in talking with the lady next door (who also has chickens) she seems to think that this breed is what they use for fighting around the NW. That makes me sad, so I'll be checking into anyone who claims him before I let...

They have...

Any chance you live in WA? your roo and mine look like brothers!
Can you keep a roo?
Ok, turns out that it was the EE Bella. She laid another egg today (26 hours after the first). The second ones shell was really soft a bit bigger, even double yoked. Im picking up some layer feed tomorrow and some oyster shell so hopefully that will fix that.
Pic(s) attached.
So now for a...
It's our first egg so we're really happy, we just don't know who laid it...
Everything that I've read on the EE's say that they more commonly lay at about 6 months rather than 4 months.
I guess it might have been Bubble (the polish) but it still seems really early to be laying... right?
Really?
