Not Sure If You've Got A Pullet Or A Cockerel? Click Here!

A tale of 2 chicken butts. These Speckled Sussexes are 8 weeks old and their back ends look, to me, significantly different enough to wonder if one might be a rooster. What do you think?

    BYC members in Massachusetts?

I got them from Feeds 'n Needs in Mendon. Haven't built coop yet, not sure what we'll do but getting a ton of inspiration from the coop section here on BYC. Do you have pics of your coop? I will definitely be posting chick pics! People here will appreciate much more than my FB people!

Millville is on the RI border, south of Mendon. I'm trying not to name them as I don't even have them yet! We ordered from the feed store.

It certainly seems a friendly place. I'll try to keep the stupid questions to a minimum but no guarantees!

    Hello from MA

Thanks! Maybe I can find the nice lady in the MA thread. Wish I had gotten her name. We are getting speckled sussex, buff orpington, salmon faverolle, and buff brahma; 2 each. We wanted easygoing birds who could handle a New England winter and the info pages the feed store had on them seemed...

    Hello from MA

Hi, I'm brand-new to chicken-keeping (chickening? fowl-fostering? hen-husbandry?) and am reading up all I can before the little fluff balls get here in mid-April. A nice lady at the feed store directed me to this site so here I am! Thanks, Aimee
