Hi have a silkie that regularly lays eggs that are bigger then grocery store extra large... all seem to be double yolk. Probably 1 out of every 5 eggs is huge and she is a small silkie. Behavior is friendly and normal. Picture is a grocery store egg in one and a regular silkie egg for comparison.
Ever figure this one out? I have a silkie and the last 2 eggs have been larger then a grocery store extra large egg... she looks happy and healthy but i am worried about her. All double yolks and good shells but huge compared to her.
Probably right, the chicken to egg ratio on that one is pretty insane though it was definitely an extra large egg(maxed out my old egg scale). I feel bad if my poor little silkie had to lay that lol.
So pretty sure i got an egg today... extremely odd because she is only about 3 months now. I have 2 silkies with her and they are laying but have small eggs. Perhaps one of them made an very large egg? Anyone hear of silkies laying extra large eggs every once in a while?
I was looking at an older thread and all their orpingtons at my age had combs my size but the few they thought were roos were alot more red. Any thoughts? I know the mother hen had a very big comb.
