    Free ranging in snow?

    My daughter with our hen "Hermonie" after 10" of snow- our girls prefer the coop as well!

    What predator ripped through the chicken wire?

    There was a hole in my chicken wire too. All the raccoon did was get a bagle I don't think it tried to get in the coop. Foxes were my problem at first but now raccoons! I don't know that it was a raccoon but I think it was.:(:(

    4 eggs- 5 hens- the most eggs we've ever gotten (we've had our new family for 5 days so far )

    Hi- We are new to the chicken biz and having a blast. We have had our 5 NH Red hens for a week and they are laying about 2-4 eggs a day in all! We feel like we are finding treasure when we see the new eggs in the nesting boxes! We live in upstate NY where it can get pretty cold in the winter...
