Top Ten Worming and Wormer Misinformations - Graphic Pictures!

@casportpony I spoke to our ONLY avian vet around here and she was not much help. She doesn't specialize in geese and wasn't able to recommend anything. She said if shes still having issues Monday to being her in for a fecal and a check. Last night I gave them some Omega Egg Maker in their...

I've asked that question and just heard back! She said Ivormectin sheep drench about 5 to 7 drops. Thanks for the input! I'm going to give my bird vet a call in the morning and see what she recommends. I'm kind of worried about one hen anyway. That's what brought me to ask about worming...

Also worth noting, I contacted the seller and explained what was going on. She said she just wormed them in October so they were "due again". Which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If you just wormed in October, you shouldn't have to do it again this quickly right? I've never heard of worming...

Maybe? I mean collecting the poop shouldn't be THAT difficult. Especially from the quad. I would have no way of knowing what came from which one. The other part would be trying to find a vet who can check it. I have vets around here, but not sure if they'd take just a sample and test it for...

They do, don't they? I adore them. I love my chickens and ducks, but if we're being honest the geese are my favorite. Shhh... don't tell the others. :P

I'm that member that Miss Lydia mentioned! I'm not entirely sure what to do. I have the new geese in quartine. My flock has been (knock on wood) incredibly healthy. Poop looks great, no sickness, great laying, etc. They have plenty of room and free range during the day. I've been under the...

Help please! New Sebastopol geese: blood in pen?

Thanks for all your help! I'll check it out. Not sure it's a necessity, as my flock has been doing amazing. But I figure it may be time to do it just in case.

The African and Chinese goose thread!!

Jchny, I'm so sorry! That's so sad. :( I've never lost a goose (with the exception of a gosling that I purchased at auction that developed wry neck before I picked her up. She couldn't be saved sadly.). So I know what you mean. They're so hardy, and I've had wonderful luck with my Africans...

Help please! New Sebastopol geese: blood in pen?

I've checked the poop I can see easily and don't see anything. Worming is probably a good idea anyway. I'm not sure their normal living conditions prior to here, because she had them penned because of a dog that had attacked the flock earlier this year. Caused one of these birds to have a...

Help please! New Sebastopol geese: blood in pen?

Thanks for the reply! I checked the vent area and did not see any signs of blood. That's not to say they couldn't have washed it off in their pool or something. Should I do anything preemptive or just wait and watch? Any red flags to watch for? I've never had a sick goose around here...

Cederhedge, I just had to come back and thank you! The rope trick is genius. Took a 200' rope but it worked! Now all my grandfather has to do is go out and threaten to "get Mr Rope" (he's older and silly) and worse case slap it on the water and walk part way across and out they go. Lol...

Help please! New Sebastopol geese: blood in pen?

Ok so I bought a quad of Sebbies a couple days ago. When I picked them up it was late, and dark, but seller thought she saw a couple of drops of blood in the yard they were in. Sure said they looked like fresh drops. Thought maybe someone had caught a toe on something, so she sent some bleed...

The African and Chinese goose thread!!

Thank you Miss Lydia! Exactly, he just wants to keep them safe. I never had any issues getting them into the duck/geese house, here and I had them for the first 5 months of their lives. But I didn't have a gorgeous pond! Lol I did suggest the fence idea to him, we just wanted to make sure...

Cedarhedge, that's actually a really good idea. I'm not sure it would work with their pond but it's worth a shot. It is more narrow going one way and may be closer to a 1/4 acre. I'll pass it along, it could be a possibility. Here's them on the pond so you can see size.

He could, or I could do it for him, but they have some serious predators out there. Coyote, fox and raccoons to name a few.
