I went out to check for eggs and notice there was some blood on the watering can and was looking at all the hens ( I have 5 ) and my hen Cluckie was bleeding a little on her comb and then I notice that there were feathers missing around her neck. I put some vaseline on...
Hi Everyone,
I have a few questions for anyone out there...Do the hens stay down in the run during the winter months or will they go up in the coop when they feel cold? Our coop has the run underneath and the coop area with the roost and where they lay is about 4 ft off the ground. Is that...
Does anyone know how long it will take for shells to get hard if they suddenly got soft. Today, I notice when I went out to check for eggs, that there was an egg and it was soft. I thought that the layers feed had oyster shell in it. I went out and bought 50 lbs today and gave them in a...
How soon after feeding them oyster shells will their eggs have a harder shell? Also, I thought that the feed had enough oyster shell in it to make their eggs have a hard shell, it that a misconception? Appreciate any thoughts on these questions

no, Just picked her up and had a towel on my lap and looked at her bottom, which she didn't seem to mind and you can easily see her vent kind of opening back and forth. So, hopefully if it was stuck wouldn't she make a lot of noise all day till it would come out?
