    I have a broody hen with only four eggs. Three have hatched but one hasn't yet. Its day 23 but still no little chick. I candled the egg to see if there was something in there and i could see the baby in there. So is there still a possibility the egg will hatch even though its almost three days late?

    Well i have a broody hen that has decided to make her nest in an unsafe location. So im worried she may be in danger of predators. I want her to have chicks but i dont want her in danger.     It is normal for the chicks to be sleepy as it is exhausting for them while hatching but soon they will get rested and they will have tons of energy.

    That is a good point on the whole intruder thing but sometimes chicks like to wander around and another hen may hurt the chick while it is away from the mom for a short time. I know this from experience.

    I wouldn't risk it. You should separate the broody hen and chicks from the rest of the flock.

    It is the end of day 21 and none of my hen's five eggs have hatched yet. Should i be worried?
