ok i had 3 chicks early yesterday.they has dried and fluffed. i put them in the fish tank set up.pine shavings ,waterer for chicks.i dipped their beaks in the water. temp is around 98. 3 inches off the ground under the light. is it normal that they are sleeping ? i figured they would be all over like in the incubator?also thinking they arent used to light so much yet

It is normal for the chicks to be sleepy as it is exhausting for them while hatching but soon they will get rested and they will have tons of energy.

First of all get the water out from under the light. That's too hot for them to drink. Water only needs to be room temperature and the brooder should be 95ish. Second, they usually spend a lot of time sleeping the first few days, so don't worry about too much yet. Think about it this way.. they just broke out of a shell from the inside, while they were curled up in a little ball, with the tip of their nose. They deserve to be tired!

ok just checking it makes sense.the water isnt in the light it is on the other side of the tank
