    OK. I use crumbles, pellets , mash & cracked corn but I keep hearing about 'scratch'. What is scratch. Will my feed store have it? Thanks

    In just a few days I have had such great information from BYC. Thank you all. It is reassuring to know that my girls are not going to be baldies forever!:|:| Out of 8 1-2 year olds I am getting 1, maybe 2 eggs/day for about the past 4 weeks. Do they start up laying again after the feathers...

    One of my girls died

    I examined her really thoroughly before I buried her and there was nothing...She was inside, on the floor of the coop. I have had a black snake occasionally looking for eggs and a fox and raccoon before but those injuries were very obvious. I appreciate your input. I am so hoping that it isn't...

    One of my girls died

    Hello. I am new to the site as of today. Yesterday I found a 5 month old barred rock dead in the coop around 5 in the evening. I am (quite sure) she had been out with the others during the day and gave me no cause for concern. No marks or evidence of foul play. All 11 of the others seem fine...
