Hi all.
I have a chicken who has little to no appetite for about 2 weeks. She's about 2-3 months old. Shes gradually losing weight and has been growing weaker as a result. She sits to rest often.
I don't know what's wrong with her anymore. At first I suspected it was worms but when I look at...
No her belly isn't swollen. It's about 50 degrees F. I've been observing her to see whether or not she's gasping and she only occasionally does it or whenever I hold her in my lap. I'm so confused. Her lack of appetite is what worries me the most.
She's also having lack of energy. She doesn't...
Is it rare? Im worried if I give her the medicine and she doesn't have it it'll end up hurting her.
She's sitting on my lap right now because it's almost bed time and she's breathing normally. I've seen her gasping during the day though. I can provide an update in the morning if you think...
Oh Im sorry. She breathes normally when she's walking. But sometimes she has to take a moment and sit down, during times like those she will open her mouth and pant. I can hear her audibly pant. She doesn't sneeze or cough. It's just the little breathing thing. :(
I dont know if that will really help since she's fully feathered so her wings cover up her body. She's not a full grown chicken. She can't lay eggs yet. This is a picture of her on the right side. She's the brown one.
Approximately 1 pound, definitely not more than 2. I don't have a kitchen scale so that's the best I can get.
Shes also 7-8 weeks old and has lost weigh and appetite in the past couple of weeks because of the worm...
Thank you for the information. Just wanted some clarification. In your first post you stated that
"Safeguard liquid or paste (fenbendazole) 0.14 ml per pound for five consecutive days"
I just purchased the fenbendazole (safeguard liquid). So should I be administering it for 3 or 5 days? Also...
Do I put the amount of medication in water? Or do I have to administer it orally? Also where did you get this information? Sorry for the questions, I just want to be super careful and not accidentally harm my chicken :(
Additionally how often did you give your turkey the medication? Once a day? The dvm website says 3mL per one gallon of water, but how often did you feed your turkey the water?
Thank you very much. The dvm site doesn't specify weight of chicken. My chicken is fairly young, she's about 8 months old. She's not developing new feathers anymore but Im worried. Would you happen to know another site or more information for dosages according to weight?
So it's okay to use safeguard on my chicken even though it was meant for cattle? Can you please link me the dvm website? And if possible can you find a link for the safeguard product?
Hi everyone, I made a post recently asking about the conditions for my chicken. I believe that one of them has contracted gapeworm.
Can someone please tell me which product I can buy in order to treat it? I've seen other people recommend Valbazen, but I haven't found a product specific for...
Thank you, I'll try this. Would you happen to know if a worm would cause her breathing symptom? And if it a worm is there anything I can give her to help?
