    Duck falling over

She’s not crested. My regular vet doesn’t generally see ducks but is going to take a look at her today. It seems like she’s starting to have seizures this morning, so I’m thinking it’s not good ☹️

    Duck falling over

I don’t think so, we compulsively check their area! I guess anything is possible.

    Duck falling over

Legs are sturdy. Walking fine when she doesn’t flip over once or twice a day

    Duck falling over

I have a 3 month old appleyard that was fine one minute then I looked over again and she/he was flipped on it’s back. We picked it up to check it out and it was a little lethargic. Brought it inside, gave electrolytes and some peas and water and it perked back up. This was Sunday evening. This...

    Silver appleyard

We have an appleyard who is 7/8 weeks old. Definitely male quacks - no mistaking that at this point. But no sign of green head yet. When do they start to develop a male head?

My brown girls are the loudest, and the worst trouble makers of the group!!!

    Duck adventures never cease..

Lol thank you! I’m quite partial. And the names were a team effort from our family and friends. I’m the only one who can tell them all apart though!!

    Duck adventures never cease..

Anyone else’s family roll their eyes like “what now” when you bring a duck inside?! lol we have 16, and I am hyper vigilant to their behavior and any changes warrant a once over, or day or two in the house to make sure all is well. I’m sure I go overboard, but I love these quackers and don’t...

    My whole herd!

Thank you!! I know we have three pekins, a cayuga, at least 4 rouen, and a runner. The more silver ones bewilder me though. And we have some lighter browns which I think may be buff Orpington? Obviously the possibility of some mixes too. They’re all beautiful to me!!

    My whole herd!

We have finally integrated our whole herd of ducks… so in love with all these babies! Not sure what most of the breeds are but they sure are cute!

    New ducklings

Bought three new ducklings to add to our flock today! We have three pekins and one goose who are 15 weeks old now. Obviously we will keep the babies separate for quite a few weeks for temperature control reasons, and safety reasons. Once they are big enough to be in the duck enclosure outside...

    Just a duck appreciation post!

The past almost 4 months with these guys has been quite eventful.. they all survived two dog attacks (lots of TLC and one trip to the vet!), and they have become such wonderful additions to our family! They don’t love the hugs we give them, but they certainly love the treats! Momma, Poppa...
